I am both an artist and a community artist. As an artist I work alone in my studio, immersed in the conversation between my past work, the current idea and my running commentary. As a community artist, I facilitate the same creative experience with other people: neighbors, families, youth groups - anyone who is willing to help build, change, and contribute. I find these two ways of working with art extremely compatible. As an artist, I am the sole decider; as a community artist I hand over the decisions and responsibility to the people who live with the mural or sculpture that they create for themselves.
